Reflexology helpful after Caesarean section

Foot reflexology was recently looked at in the context of anxiety and other health measures after C-section. A total of 135 women were involved in the study and the findings reported in Nursing Women’s Health (2024). Anxiety and other parameters were measured before and 30 minutes after the intervention.

The results were so positive that the research group suggests that ‘Considering the effect of [reflexology] on decreasing anxiety and improving most physiologic parameters, it seems that foot reflexology… can be recommended after cesarean surgery.’

An earlier study (2023) found that reflexology after C-section decreased mothers’ pain, increased breastfeeding frequency and babies weight gain.
